To celebrate the release of their new album, Alto Appassionato, violist Timothy Ridout and pianist Jonathan Ware present a musical journey back to Paris at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Exploring this period from a viola’s point of view, the album features César Franck’s monumental Sonata, Léon Honnoré’s Morceau de concert, Henri Büsser’s Appassionato, George Enescu’s Concertstück and six songs by Gabriel Fauré, exploring a huge range of emotions and transcribed by Timothy Ridout himself. This recital will include pieces from the album interspersed with introductions given by Timothy and will reflect the French School in its widest sense: full of lyricism, sophistication and intensity.
